  1. Hi Tiffany!

I think that you did a wonderful job teaching your lesson on solids, liquids, gasses, and transition states for microteaching 1! I could tell that you put a great deal of effort into preparing your lesson, and I really enjoyed it.

I really liked how you were able to introduce the class to the topics covered with a personal story. Additionally, I thought that you did a wonderful job covering the topic before giving the handouts to your students. You were very detailed in your presentation and delivery of the subject matter, which made me feel confident in my ability to complete the assignment.

One improvement that I would maybe make for next time is maybe bringing in a mini handout to go along with the ice pack. It was great that you brought the ice pack along for students that finished early, but I feel as though there was not much for students to do after they briefly examined that.

    Have a great weekend!

  2. Hi Tiffany, I agree with Jessica in many aspects. I could tell you were very well prepared and put in a lot of effort. I think you spoke clearly and time wish efficiently. You were able to deliver quite a bit of info clearly and effectively in a short amount of time. I think you had a good mix of lecture, group work and hands on stuff. It was nice that you brought in items so students actually get a physical idea of liquids, solids and gas. Coming from a math point i would maybe give students a hint into the little table they could make to help them go through the worksheet with the melting and freezing points on it. Just a >, < type table to help students go down the list faster end more efficiently. Other than that i think it was a great first lesson.

  3. I agree with Zach and Jessica. You did a great job explaining the topic and it was very clear that you put in the work. The one thing I would suggest is to maybe make a power point next time. The writing on the board work but I think it would have been easier for you to use the power point. It makes the things even more clear for the students and less work during the lesson for you. Overall, I did learn a lot from you lesson and the hands on part was perfect.

  4. Hey Tiffany,

Your lesson was engaging, informative, and interesting. As an English major I don't necessarily gravitate towards science and math, but you made this lesson easy to understand. You were able to keep our attention focused on the lesson by having hands-on things for us to do. There really was not much that needed changing, but I do agree with Zach that the table did confuse me a little. I was not entirely sure on how to find the answers to the questions. With that being said though, you were very helpful in answering questions and making sure that we were on task. You are going to be a great teacher!
